Chelsey and my latest film. Like us :)
Oh also, this was my first film, edited in Premiere Pro CS6! It was a difficult switch from FCP7, but I definitely think it was worth it and I wont be going back. Of course I still use Final Cut Studio’s other programs like Compressor, DVD Studio Pro, and Motion, but as far as editing goes I’m on the PPCS6 train for now. If you’re looking to switch over here’s some tips I would recommend. DEFINITELY switch the keystrokes to the FCP7 defaults in the preferences. This is the main thing that convinced me to switch. I’ve been editing on Final Cut for around eight years now, so learning new keystrokes was going to be impossible. Luckily Premiere Pro has a preset that is basically all the same keystrokes, there were a few differences but I figured them out pretty quick. Everything about the program is pretty easy to figure out, except the little things…What I mean by this, is the things that I spent FOREVER trying to learn were like little tiny aspects of editing, like making the sequence bigger to see audio waveforms, or changing a mono track to stereo. They sound like very elementary things, but for some reason those two things took me around twenty minutes EACH to figure out. Once I got them, I was like DUH *facepalm* haha, sometimes coming from Final Cut, I just over think things a little much. If you’re making the switch, surround yourself with people that you can call/text/email so that you don’t get super frustrated when hitting these little bumps. If you don’t have anyone, send me your questions and we can learn together! Thanks to everyone who is helping me learn, I look forward to further exploring the possibilities of this program!
